I'm Sandro Wüthrich, born in October 1978.
For me, creating art started initially from a casual drawing hobby in childhood and youth, as well as from an interest in exploring various artists works in exhibitions and museums.
I began to believe that I could also produce art myself.
As my first formal training, I completed a degree in offset-printing, graduating with good grades.
However, I didn't pursue a career in that field after my apprenticeship.
During the studies, my eye for color developed and I became more familiar with mixing different shades of colors.
After a year I underwent training in horticulture and gardening with a focus on cultivating perennials.
Reading books about topics of interest as well as fiction and poetry, serve as one of my avenues into art and research.
I'm also musically inclined and learned to play the trumpet.
I've participated in musical events and enjoy occasionally attending concerts by different orchestras and bands.
Since youth I've been practicing Hatha-Yoga and later on also meditation.
Instead of enlisting in the army I opted for civilian service.
I worked there in workshops with people with special needs.
Having already worked in agriculture for several years, I decided to enroll in my first art course.
It took place as an evening class at Helsinki's Cable Factory, organized by the Free Art School.
The focus was drawing from a live model.
Meanwhile, my work in the plant nursery continued and in my leisure time I sketched mostly landscapes with charcoal.
It didn't took long as I embarked on full-time art studies at the Kymenlaakso Institute ('Kymenlaakson Opisto').
I relocated to the village Inkeroinen of the municipal Kouvola for my studies.
During my time there, I had the chance to explore and refine various techniques
while creatively conceptualizing the content of my pieces.
After this successful year, I landed a job in park maintenance in Helsinki and took on a new challenge as an organic vegetable farmer for the food cooperative 'Kaupunkilaisten Oma Pelto'.
Making art I pursued in my free time.
A few years later, I moved again to the district Kymenlaakso in pursuit of art.
Here, I settled in Kotka, where I enrolled in the two-year classical art program at the 'Repin Institute'.
The curriculum mainly focused on drawing and painting from models, but also included exercises in composition
based on creative thinking. I learned to observe shapes and colors as well as light and shadow with precision.
During the program, I created numerous pieces that I believe were successful, merging my personal artistic vision with the classical techniques imparted by the school.
After finishing my studies, I reentered the working life, albeit with a shift away from horticulture as my main focus.
I took temporary roles in logistics, personal assistance, and property maintenance but still also as gardener.
As for my artistic pursuits, I dedicated my time to completing unfinished works from before and also
managed to create some new pieces.
At that time, I also became actively interested in computer programming.
I initially studied the basics of coding independently online. As my motivation in programming grew,
I soon decided to pursue studies in the field at 'RASEKO'.
The skills I acquired during my software developer studies have also enabled me to develop this virtual gallery.
Through my art, I aim to encapsulate an often subjectively coloured summary of a life situation,
or from the nature of particular items, creatures or landscapes.
Usually in a way that implies beauty, even when addressing conflicts or contradictions.
The creative work process is important to me because it's during this time that the individual characteristics
of the artwork take the shape.
When I observe appealing art, I often view it also through the lens of my own life experiences.
It triggers thoughts and offers new perspectives on topics that concern me.
That's why I've decided to share my own artistic creations with a public audience as well.
For me, creating art falls somewhere between passion and professionalism.
Art is a significant part of my life already for several years, but I also earn a living through different work.
I strive to make that skillful too and don't draw strict boundaries between art and other aspects of life.
At times, both my life and artistic journey have required me a new orientation and to make changes.
I haven't adhered strictly to a predefined career trajectory,
which has presented its own challenges but also enriched me with diversity.
